Balfour Geodome is the second of our three glamping pods at Hanmer Glamping. This dome has the most sweeping view of the plains. The secluded garden is set to the side of the pod, and has it’s own outdoor seating area, BBQ and woodfired hot tub. In the spring, the crab apple tree puts on a stunning display of blossom. The garden has a feijoa hedge – help yourself to these if they are in season!
There is a designated parking space approximately 80m from the dome. The dome is accessed by three steps onto a small deck. If you need help with your luggage that is no problem, and we have a luggage trolley which you are welcome to use, or we can give you a hand.
Balfour Geodome is nestled amongst trees and flax bushes, so you are guaranteed to hear the birds. Tui love the flax in spring, while our resident bell birds make themselves heard. Fantails will join you in the garden, and at dusk there are frequently quail on the lawn.

Hot tub ready on arrival
If you would like us to fill and light the hot tubs ready for use on arrival please add this extra in the booking form and make sure you let us know your ETA so that we know what time to get it ready for. There is no extra charge for this service.
N.B. If at any time there is a total fire ban then we are not allowed to light the hot tubs. This is only likely during the dryer summer months but can happen at any time. You can always fill it for a cold dip though.
Grazing platter for two
Would you like a grazing platter for 2 on arrival? We offer amazing grazing platters made locally in Hanmer Springs which we can arrange and have ready for you on arrival. See photo for example. These can be purchased on the booking form and you can even add in a bottle of bubbles to set the mood for your stay. All we need is a minimum of 3 days notice and to know your dietary requirements.
