After a lot of back and forth with engineers, manufacturers and council, we have permission to build our luxury glamping accommodation – so we have started to create Hanmer Glamping!
Our plan is to put up three 50m3 Geodesic Domes, each with their own bathroom, kitchen, garden and Hot Tub. We would like to create a quiet retreat for adults. We love children but they bring a different vibe and sometimes it’s nice to get away from it all.
We have amazing views from our property, so each dome will be positioned to take advantage of that. Isobel Dome has a fabulous view of …. you guessed it… Mount Isobel with the Hanmer village nestled beneath. Balfour Dome looks across Medway Road and the Hanmer basin to Mount Balfour. I’m sure you can work out the view from Dumblane Dome!
It turns out that Council would like our Domes to be pretty secure – so here we are digging foundation holes and starting the decks on which the Domes will sit. Big shout out to Simon and Arron at The Tiny House Company who built the platforms – a crucial part of our build. Nothing about our Domes fit the standards, so Simon and Arron were fabulous, working with us, the engineers and council to construct three solid platforms that both ticked the boxes and did the job. So the platforms are complete, the frames are up and first canvas is on … but right now, it feels like we’ve got a long way to go!
