What time can we check in?

Check in time is from 3pm onwards, unless agreed prior to arrival.

What time do we need to check out?

Check out is by 10am on the morning of your departure.

Occasionally we can be flexible with this – please ask.

If you are spending the day in the area, we can arrange for your luggage to be stored for the day.

Do the Domes have en-suites?

Yes – all three domes have a full bathroom with flushing toilet, hot shower and sink facilities.

Do the Domes have cell phone reception and Wifi?

Yes – all three domes have cell phone reception. Free wifi is provided – details of how to access this is in a folder in each of the domes.

Are children allowed?

On the whole – no. This is because we are aiming to create a quiet adult get-away, and we haven’t provided facilities for children like play equipment.

That said, if you want to book all 3 domes and have children in your group, we would be more than happy. This is because everyone in your group will have the same expectations. The easiest way to arrange this is to contact us.

We like children a lot – it’s just that they are naturally noisy and inquisitive which isn’t always welcome with other guests.

Are pets allowed?

Sorry for the inconvenience but, while we love animals and have dogs ourselves, many guest prefer not to have animals around and our accommodation is intended as a peaceful retreat.  So, we do not allow dogs or other pets.

Do you take group bookings?

Yes – you are welcome to book more than one geodome. If you want to book all three domes together you can use the booking form, or feel free to contact us.

If booking the entire place (all 3 domes) we can then accept children as well.

The Games Shed is particularly good for groups, as it provides a communal area to play games and socialise.

What kitchen facilities are provided?

We provide a range of kitchen equipment including:

  • electric kettle
  • toaster
  • microwave
  • benchtop hob
  • full coffee machine
  • pots and pans
  • crockery and cutlery
  • chopping board
  • grater, tin opener, bottle opener
  • bowls and utensils

In addition, you will find some kitchen basics to get you started, including:

  • Tea and Coffee (fresh coffee beans and instant sachets)
  • A small bottle of milk
  • Salt and pepper
  • Cooking oil
  • Fresh free range eggs (subject to our hens – sometimes they take a holiday!)

Can you arrange food and/or wine?

Yes – but we do need approximately two (2) weeks notice.

We can arrange for a fabulous grazing platter to be available on arrival, and/or a bottle of wine or bubbles.

If you would either or these, please contact us and we can discuss your exact requirements.

How far from Hanmer Village are you?

We are 9km from the centre of the village.

Will the hot tub be lit when we arrive?

Yes – if you ask us to light it!  Let us know when you book your approximate arrival time and we will be happy to light the hot tub for you so that it is hot on your arrival.

If you don’t request this, our hot tubs take between 2.5 and 4 hours to fully heat. During this time you can sit in your private garden, open a bottle of wine and enjoy the view!

Are you open all year round?

Yes we are.

Each dome is fitted with a heat pump, which provides heating in the winter months and air conditioning in the summer.

Each dome has spare blankets, and an electric blanket for the bed.

Visiting in winter means the wood fired hot tubs come in to their own – there is nothing like soaking in a natural wood fired hot tub gazing at the stars. With almost no artificial light in the area we get some phenomenal night skies.

In the summer months, the BBQ comes into it’s own, and each dome as a private garden.

Do you have guest laundry facilities?

No. There are two excellent laundry facilities in Hanmer Springs village, both or which provide washing and drying facilities.

If you have an urgent need, please let us know as we will be happy to help.

Are the dome tents noisy?

The dome tents are made of PVC canvas with an internal lining. You can hear through them – however not to the same extent as an ordinary camping tent.

You are likely to hear occasionals car on the nearby country road (Medway Road), and the odd light aircraft or helicopter from the small airfield in Hanmer Basin. At certain times of year you will hear cattle or hay making. Occasionally a dog may bark or a neighbour may be using a chainsaw. Essentially you will hear the normal sounds of the countryside.

The main, consistent sound you will wake up to is bird song!

Do you have games available?

Yes. In The Games Shed you will find a pool table, table tennis and darts.

There is also a cupboard with a variety of board games, puzzles and cards that you are welcome to borrow during you stay.

You have a book exchange - what is this?

In The Shed (Games Room) there are two bookshelves with a variety of books.

You are welcome to take one – either to read during your stay, or to take away with you. If you have finished a book, please leave it on the shelf for another guest to enjoy.

Can we charge e-bikes?

Yes – feel free to access the plugs in the games room.
